Palembang-Jambi Fiber Optic Project Completed Ahead of Schedule
The 120km fiber optic cable installation project on the Palembang-Jambi route was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule, demonstrating the team's efficiency and professionalism.

PT Mora Jaya Persada has successfully completed the 120-kilometer fiber optic cable installation project on the Palembang-Jambi route for PT Telkom Indonesia, two weeks ahead of the scheduled deadline. This project is one of the largest fiber optic projects ever handled by the company.
Project Execution Strategy
The project, which commenced in January 2024, was originally scheduled for completion in mid-July 2024, but thanks to thorough planning and effective team coordination, all work was completed in early July 2024. The work included the installation of ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) fiber optic cable along existing power pole routes, as well as underground ducting in several critical segments.
Andi Pratama, S.T., the Project Manager leading this project, explained that the key to success lay in the execution strategy of dividing the 120km route into 6 simultaneous work segments. "With this approach, we could carry out work in parallel at several points simultaneously without sacrificing quality. Each segment had its own splicing and testing team working independently yet coordinated," he explained.
Challenges and Technical Quality
The main challenge of this project was the varied geographical terrain, ranging from the urban area of Palembang, rubber and palm oil plantations, to swamp areas along the Trans-Sumatra route. The technical team had to adapt installation methods according to terrain conditions in each segment.
The splicing process used the latest fusion splicer technology with an average loss per splice of only 0.02 dB, far below the maximum standard of 0.1 dB set by Telkom. OTDR testing results showed that all spans met the required technical specifications.
Installed Infrastructure Coverage
Total cable installed includes 120km of 96-core backbone cable and 45km of 24-core distribution cable. In addition to cable installation, the team also built 8 units of Optical Distribution Cabinets (ODC) and 24 units of Optical Distribution Points (ODP) along the route.
The project's success received direct appreciation from PT Telkom Indonesia Regional Sumatra management. As a follow-up, PT Mora Jaya Persada has received an offer for the second phase fiber optic project connecting Jambi to Riau in 2025.
